SUNDAY SCHOOL

(September 11 - December 18)

 

Children, Youth & Adult Sunday School classes gather at 9:30 AM each Sunday. Each class enlists a variety of material including Biblical studies, classes designed to deepen spiritual development, theology and history, and topical issues focusing on faithful response in our world.

 

NURSERY CARE:

The Nursery (Rooms 48 and 50) is available for children four years old and younger during the Sunday School hour, and worship.

CHILDREN: 

Children grades K-6 will gather for music and opening activities at 9:30 in room 36. Then, they will divide into their classrooms for Bible story lessons.

 

Grades K-6 drop off in Room 36

Grades K-3 pick up in Room 37

Grades 4-6 pick up in Room 31

 

YOUTH:

Sunday morning the youth are led through Bible studies and topical discussions by adult volunteer leaders.

 

Grades 7-12 meet in the Youth Lounge. 

 

ADULTS: 

Adult classes meet regularly on Sundays throughout the year, with certain exceptions during summer months. 

 

Parents of Little Ones (POLO)

Bride's Room | Dates: September 18 - December 18

 

Parents of Parents of young children, drop off your kids in the nursery or at Sunday School and come hang out for actual adult conversation.

St. Andrew’s Class

Fellowship Hall | Dates: September 18 - November 13

The St. Andrew’s class enjoys lecture style teaching with discussion. The class also plan social events for fellowship and fun. While the class was started over 50 years ago, they continue to welcome new members. Planned fall series include joining the Visions class for a series on Women of the New Testament led by Frank Lewis from September 11 to October 16.

Genesis II

Conference Room | Dates: September 11 - November 13

Genesis II has group discussions led by class members or visiting teachers as well as gathers for social and service events. Fall highlights include a series led by Jann Treadwell on Jesus’ “I AM” statements in the Gospel of John and a study from N.T. Wright on the book of Galatians with discussions lead by Larry Peters and Neil Orleans. Everyone is welcome.

 

Visions

The Visions class members include parents of young adults through junior high schoolers but welcome folks from all ages to join them. The class participates in topical and biblical discussions, lectures, and doing service projects together. Planned fall highlights include joining the St. Andrews for a series on Women of the New Testament led by Frank Lewis from September 11 to October 16.

All Adults Sunday School with Tom Currie

Fellowship Hall | Date: November 20  

 

"What Makes Presbyterians Distinctive . . . Theological Reflections inspired by the Book of Confessions." Questions such as, "Is there anything distinctive about what Presbyterians profess to believe?" will be discussed.  The son and grandson of Presbyterian ministers, Rev. Dr. Tom Currie, grew up in Oak Cliff in Dallas, and later graduated from high school in Houston. He studied at Haverford College, Austin Presbyterian Theological Seminary, and the University of Edinburgh. He pastored congregations in Brenham and Kerrville, TX, and served as Dean and taught theology at Union Presbyterian Seminary’s Charlotte campus. He and his wife, Peggy, are the parents of three children and five grandchildren. Rev. Dr. Currie is also brother to our own Liz Williams.   

 

All Adult Advent Sunday School
Fellowship Hall | Dates: November 27 - December 18

 

The Angels of Christmas: Hearing God’s Voice in Advent by Susan Robb. The study which explores the angelic visits around the Christmas story will offer a message for us about hearing God’s voice. There will be a video each week and discussions around the tables.
