Special opportunities through our Presbyterian connectional system include Youthquake for Jr. Highs (a weekend in the fall and spring), Sr. High Youth Connection at Austin College (Feb. 1-3, 2008), Synod Youth Workshop at Tulsa University (in July, 2008) and Jr. High Jubilee at Mo-Ranch (in late June or early July).

Summer service: Next summer both the college group and the Sr. Highs will work with Habitat for Humanity in Mississippi. The College trip is May 19-24. The Sr. Highs will go from June 9-14. The Jr. Highs will go visit Heifer International, hopefully in early June.

Other special times for the youth are Youth Sunday (March 30) when the youth lead the worship service and Confirmation Class for 9th graders beginning in January, 2008 during the church school hour. Confirmation is a time when these young people learn more about the Presbyterian Church and their own commitment to be disciples as they prepare to make a public profession of faith in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior.

The Youth Ministry Council, made up of youth teachers and sponsors and the Youth Leadership Team with reps from each grade level, meets every other month to reflect on youth ministry at NorthPark, to evaluate the program, to plan new activities, and to make recommendations to the Christian Education Committee regarding new programming ideas. Parents of teens meet periodically to discuss concerns, issues, and ways they can support the program.
