Pastor Nominating Committee (PNC)
The Pastor Nominating Committee (PNC) selection was approved by the congregation on August 4th, 2019 and has begun weekly meetings. Their purpose is to select the nominee for the permanent Pastor, negotiate the terms of call, and report the call to Session – who will then authorize a congregational meeting for the election of our next Pastor.
The members of the PNC are:
Bill Sanderson (Chair)
Grace Presbytery provides an advisor (Richard Culp) to the PNC from the Committee on Ministry (COM).
The PNC process is based on the Book of Order, guidance documents from Grace Presbytery, and the PCUSA Church Leadership Connection.
The chart below provides the overall process for selecting and approving the new pastor.
The first step in the process was to complete the Mission Study which was approved by Grace Presbytery. Currently, the PNC has completed the Ministry Information Form (MIF). The MIF is basically a standardized job description for what we are looking for in the new pastor. The MIF has been approved by our Session and Grace Presbytery’s Committee on Ministry and is posted on the Church Leadership Connection which is an Internet-based matching and referral system of the Presbyterian Church USA. Ministers that are looking for opportunities review the MIFs on the website and submit their interest and their Personal Information Form (PIF). The PCUSA uses the MIF to match up with submitted PIFs and provides those matching PIFs to the PNC for review.
The PNC will continue to update the status of the PNC’s effort to the congregation via this website and the NorthPark newsletter.
This is an exciting time for NorthPark! The PNC asks congregation to pray for the PNC and their discernment to help us find a pastor that will enable our church’s mission and vision to be met.
