Sanctuary Choir

The NorthPark Presbyterian Church Sanctuary Choir is a 45-voice ensemble which provides music for all regular Sunday 11:00 services, special services, and presents major works during the Lenten and Advent seasons. The Choir, which rehearses on Wednesday evenings from 7:30 – 9:00, is open to all interested participants -- just come to a rehearsal with a love of singing and a desire to participate in a very meaningful way in the worship experience.
The NorthPark Sanctuary Choir offers two major musical works each year, usually with orchestra, brass ensemble, or other instrumentation, and in recent years has performed works such as The Christmas Story by Ron Nelson, Cantata No. 4, Christ Lag in Todesbanden by J. S. Bach, both the Gloria and Requiem by John Rutter, Requiem by Gabriel Fauré, Christmas Oratorio by Camille Saint Säens, and the complete Messiah by Georg Frederik Handel.
The Sanctuary Choir regularly receives invitations to participate in music festivals around the world, and has participated in the Advent Sing in Vienna, Austria and most recently in the Chorale Festiva Toscana in Montecatini Terme, Italy. While in Italy, the choir was chosen to sing noon Mass on the Feast Day of St. Peter and St. Paul in St. Peter’s Basilica in the Vatican. The choir will tour the British Isles in July, 2007, singing in some of the world's most beloved cathedrals. The Choir’s repertoire ranges from liturgical chant to English church music, from Latin motets to contemporary Christian chorales, from standard hymn arrangements to African-American spirituals….in short—something for everyone!
