June's mission of the month

Healing Hands Ministries is now in their 14th year providing medical and mental healthcare to more than 47,000 patients annually in the Northeast Dallas area. As of 2019, they have a second location in Vickery Meadow in addition to their original Royal Lane location. It is a Women and Children’s Health Center which provides pediatric medical appointments, obstetric and gynecological care, and a behavioral health center staffed by both a licensed care professional and a licensed chemical dependency counselor. In addition, Healing Hands Ministries is the only facility in Dallas to offer full service prenatal care to the uninsured. Recently Healing Hands Ministries has been instrumental in providing covid vaccines to the community as well as disseminating flyers and brochure s to educate underserved patients in the Burmese and Hispanic communities on the importance of the vaccine.

One of the special challenges and blessings of Healing Hand Ministries is their diverse multicultural community in which their patients speak 68 different languages. Of their staff of 99 in conjunction with Presbyterian Hospital, they have three translators and 65% of their staff is bilingual.

At NorthPark we are proud to have funded a grant to Healing Hands Ministries from our Mission Budget for the last twelve years. In 2021, this NPPC grant recipient hopes to expand their services to include a vision clinic which will offer vision exams daily for adults and children and complete the construction of another floor at the Vickery Meadow location for classrooms, a pharmacy, and a meeting space. Truly this is good work being done in our neighborhood!
