Last week I talked about anticipation.  Well my waiting is finally over.  I want to thank all of you who voted. It means so much that you care.  Now for the moment we have all been waiting for.

The name you selected for me is…….

Fishmael!!!

Why is it important to have a name? Our names are our identity.  Our names link us to our families. Our names are part of our relationship with God.  We are baptized with our name so that God knows who we are. That way when he calls we can answer.

We know each other by our names but also know each other by who and how we love.  Connecting our name with love helps God to know us and us to know God.

When we are lost people will call our name.  Without a name we don’t know who we are and those who are looking don’t know when they have found us.  Jesus calls us when we are lost to bring us back to where we need to be.  So we can be found again.

God knows our name and some day he will call each of us home.  What that name sounds like depends on how we have lived and loved on Earth.

This week think about how you want your name to sound to God.

Until next week, Fishmael out.
