Communion for the World

Communion

As a church communicator (someone who finds themselves in a field of professionals who work to get the Word out about our church) I follow a blog called Church Marketing Sucks.

There's no offense intended, but if you are, you can choose to follow them at Church Marketing Stinks instead. Spoiler alert: it's the same content.

The blog's stated mission is to "to frustrate, educate and motivate the church to communicate, with uncompromising clarity, the truth of Jesus Christ."

According to the blog’s creators, "we’ve got the greatest story ever told, but we don’t know how to tell it. The church has a problem communicating, and it’s time to change."

In humble reverence to the Church Marketing Sucks team, and in advance of NorthPark's upcoming annual celebration and fall kick-off, better known as Rally Day, I'd like to take this opportunity to clearly communicate something very important to anyone choosing to read this particular church blog.

You. Are. Welcome. At. The. Table.

I'm not inviting you to dinner at my house, although that might be nice, too. I'm inviting you, on behalf of the real host (the One who promises an ultimate continuous feast in the Kingdom of God) to the Lord's table.

You. Are. Welcome. At. The. Table.

Here's why:
It's not my  table.

It's not a Presbyterian  table.

It's not the Church's  table.

It's not a table of exclusion; a table only for those deemed deserving or holy enough.

It is a table that calls us to communion with Jesus Christ and to communion with one another.

You. Are. Welcome. At. The. Table.

Really.

I hope you'll join us.

Communion Feast

NorthPark's Rally Day is an annual event marking the beginning of a new year of worship, mission, and fellowship.

Join us Sunday, August 23rd at 8:30 and 11:00 a.m. for worship. Our awesome pancake and egg breakfast is served at 9:40 a.m. in Fellowship Hall.

Donations of fresh fruit and vegetables are encouraged during "Come to the Feast." All items will be delivered to the Vickery Meadow Food Pantry Sunday afternoon by our Reverse Food Truck team.

Well said. When I first came to NorthPark, one of the things that really impressed me was the simple statement, "This is not a Presbyterian table."
