ANY TOPIC/CLASS THAT IS OF INTEREST!
ST. ANDREWS/SEEKERS CLASS Location: Room 37
Q: THE EARLIEST GOSPEL: An Introduction to the Original Stories and Sayings of Jesus. (Feb. 14-21) The class will combine with Horizons for 3 weeks. This is a new work that looks at the "Sayings Gospel" and presents Jesus as a prophetic critic of unbelief - and a sage with the wisdom to transform. This Gospel, as we can reconstruct it, reveals a very different portrait of Jesus then in much of the later canonical writings, challenging the way we think of Christian origins and the nature and mission of Jesus Christ. What did Q look like? What difference does Q make? And what happened to Q?
Leadership: Tom Blackwood
CHRIST FIGURES IN LITERATURE (March 7 – April 11) This study will focus on modern literature and Christ-like characters in such works as A Separate Peace, Lord of the Flies, Faulkner's Light in August, and John Irving's A Prayer for Owen Meany as well as a few other works.
Leadership: Jean Neisius
I, 2,3 JOHN (April 25 – May 30) The Word of God in John’s brief letters is powerful and challenging. In these letters the apostle John says exactly what the church needs to hear today – announcing that God is light, truth, love, and life.

YES, LORD, I HAVE SINNED, BUT I HAVE SEVERAL EXCELLENT EXCUSES (Feb. 14 – March 14) James Moore, the author of the above book, deals with sins that are most common in our churches and among Christians, such as: the sin of talking a good game, the sin of spiritual arrogance, and of presumptuousness. The class will discuss his (and our) insights into our failures, but also explore God’s grace in the midst of it all.
Leadership: Jann Treadwell
"THY KINGDOM COME" (March 21-April 18) Using Robert Farrar Capon's book Kingdom, Grace, Judgment: Paradox, Outrage, and Vindication in the Parables of Jesus as a resource, we will explore some of Jesus' parables of the kingdom and their meaning for our lives today.

THE LIVING BRANCHES CLASS Location: Bride’s Room
Living Branches is a class made up of women of all ages. We study a variety of material that will help us deepen our spiritual lives. This spring we will be studying the book "Home Tonight" by Henri Nouwen which follows the path of Nouwen's spiritual homecoming based on reflections of the story of the Prodigal Son. "Home Tonight" is a practical guide for the inner journey home. We will take a break from this during Lent to do a Lenten study to be determined. Any and all women are welcome.
