NorthPark Sesquicentennial Committee

The NorthPark Presbyterian Church Sesquicentennial Committee was formed in early 2016 to lead the effort in researching the history of the church, planning special commemorative events for 2017, and recruiting volunteers and church members to lead and participate in the yearlong festivities.

 

Ann & Wayne Anderson joined NorthPark Presbyterian Church in 1978. They are actively involved with the church's on-site, weekly respite care program, Casa de Vida.

Wayne is an ordained elder, has served on numerous church committees, and is currently a member of the NorthPark Handbell Choir.

Ann currently serves on the Casa de Vida Board of Directors as the program's managing director. She is a lifelong Presbyterian, a NorthPark ruling elder, and is active in Women's Circle, Bible studies, and the St. Andrews Sunday School class.

 

Bonnie Cavin has attended NorthPark Presbyterian Church since 1965 when her father, Rev. David Zacharias, accepted the call as pastor. Rev. Zacharias served from 1965-1980 and was pastor emeritus until his death in 2010. Bonnie's brother, Larry Zacharias, is also a member of the Sesquicentennial Committee.

Bonnie has served three terms as a ruling elder and most recently served as moderator of the NorthPark Deacons. She has also volunteered as a youth sponsor, a Sunday School teacher, and served as a Stephen Minister and Stephen leader. She has chaired two pastor nominating committees and currently ushers with the women of the church.

Walter and Carol Jean Dunlap joined NorthPark Presbyterian in 1968.

Walter is a church elder, has served three terms on Session and on the Long Range Planning, Building, Capital Campaign, Stewardship and Investment Committees. He also served as treasurer and has taught numerous adult Sunday school classes. In addition to service on two Pastor Nominating Committees, Walter currently serves as Board Chairman of Texas Presbyterian Foundation, which manages endowed funds.

Carol Jean is a church elder and deacon. She has served as a Stephen Minister, on a Pastor Nominating Committee, taught children and adult Sunday school classes, served as coordinator for the St. Andrews class, and currently volunteers with Casa de Vida.

Carol Jean and Walter are the parents of Cheryl Payton, grandparents of Michael and Matthew Payton, and in laws of Ross Payton, all NorthPark members.

 

Kara Janasak is a lifelong member of NorthPark Presbyterian Church.

She has been actively involved in the youth program, teaches Sunday School classes, and has served on the Worship & Music Committee. Kara is a member of Sanctuary Choir, Handbell Choir, and has served as both ruling elder and deacon.

Kara graduated from Austin College and is a Dyslexia Therapy teacher in the Allen Independent School District.


Larry Zacharias, better known as "Zach," has been a member of NorthPark Presbyterian Church since 1965 when his father, Rev. David Zacharias, accepted the call as pastor. Zach has served three terms as a ruling elder in addition to serving on the Building and Grounds Committee, the Building Committee for the current building, and the Capital Campaign Committee.

Zach joined the NorthPark Sanctuary Choir in 1977 and still enjoys singing as a choir member today.
